For Reviewers

The Malaysian Online Journal of Educational Technology (MOJET) greatly appreciates the valuable contributions of its reviewers. Peer review is fundamental to maintaining the quality, integrity, and scholarly impact of the journal. Reviewers are expected to provide fair, constructive, timely, and evidence based evaluations of submitted manuscripts.

Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Accept review invitations only when they have the appropriate expertise and can complete the review within the requested timeframe.
  • Conduct reviews objectively, fairly, and professionally.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all manuscript materials and review activities.
  • Disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest before accepting a review assignment.
  • Inform the editorial office of any suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, ethical misconduct, or other concerns regarding research integrity.
  • Provide clear, constructive, and evidence based feedback that helps authors improve their work.
  • Support their recommendations with appropriate explanations and scholarly justification.

Preparing the Review Report

Reviewers are encouraged to organize their comments under the following headings where appropriate:

  1. Presentation and Organization
  • Clarity, structure, readability, and overall presentation of the manuscript.
  1. Originality and Contribution
  • Novelty of the study and its contribution to the field of educational technology.
  1. Introduction and Literature Review
  • Adequacy of the theoretical background and relevance of cited literature.
  1. Methodology
  • Appropriateness, rigor, and transparency of the research design, participants, instruments, and analyses.
  1. Results
  • Accuracy, clarity, and adequacy of the presentation of findings.
  1. Discussion and Conclusions
  • Interpretation of findings, implications, limitations, and conclusions.
  1. Significance and Relevance
  • Importance of the study for researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and the broader educational technology community.
  1. References
  • Accuracy, relevance, currency, and compliance with APA 7th Edition guidelines.

Review comments should be entered directly into the journal management system or uploaded as a separate review report file.

To preserve the integrity of the double blind review process, reviewers should not make direct edits or comments within the manuscript file itself.

For recommendations involving major revision or rejection, reviewers are expected to provide clear explanations and sufficient evidence to support their decision.

Ethical Obligations of Reviewers

Reviewers play a critical role in safeguarding the quality and integrity of scholarly publishing. Accordingly, reviewers should:

  • Evaluate manuscripts solely on their academic merit, without discrimination based on nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, institutional affiliation, seniority, or personal characteristics of the authors.
  • Treat all manuscripts as confidential documents and refrain from sharing or discussing them with unauthorized individuals.
  • Avoid using information obtained during the review process for personal, professional, or competitive advantage.
  • Respect the intellectual independence and academic freedom of authors.
  • Notify the editorial office promptly if they become aware of any conflict of interest that may affect their impartiality.
  • Decline review assignments when they cannot provide an objective evaluation.
  • Adhere to the principles of confidentiality, objectivity, transparency, and academic integrity throughout the review process.

Ethical Standards

MOJET follows internationally recognized standards of publication ethics and supports the principles and guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Reviewers are expected to uphold these standards in all aspects of the peer review process.
