Peer Review Policy

The Malaysian Online Journal of Educational Technology (MOJET) employs a rigorous double blind peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and scholarly contribution of all published articles.

MOJET publishes four issues annually in January, April, July, and October. Manuscripts may be submitted throughout the year and are evaluated on a rolling basis.

Initial Editorial Assessment

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening conducted by the Editor in Chief or a designated Section Editor.

During this stage, manuscripts are evaluated for:

  • Relevance to the journal's aims and scope
  • Compliance with submission and formatting requirements
  • Originality and scholarly contribution
  • Academic writing quality and clarity
  • Ethical compliance and research integrity

Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's minimum requirements may be rejected without external review.

Double Blind Peer Review

Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the subject area.

MOJET operates a double blind review system, in which:

  • Reviewers do not know the identities of the authors.
  • Authors do not know the identities of the reviewers.

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on:

  • Originality and contribution to the field
  • Theoretical and conceptual foundation
  • Methodological rigor
  • Quality of analysis and interpretation
  • Relevance to educational technology research and practice
  • Clarity of presentation and organization
  • Ethical standards and academic integrity

Editorial Decisions

Based on reviewer reports and editorial evaluation, one of the following decisions may be made:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject

The final publication decision rests solely with the Editor in Chief.

When revisions are requested, authors are expected to submit a revised manuscript together with a detailed response to reviewers' comments.

Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.

Reviewer Selection

Reviewers are selected based on their expertise, publication record, research experience, and suitability for the manuscript topic.

Reviewers may be drawn from:

  • The Editorial Board
  • The Reviewer Board
  • External subject matter experts

The journal seeks to avoid conflicts of interest in reviewer assignments and strives to ensure objective and independent evaluations.

Confidentiality

All manuscripts submitted to MOJET are treated as confidential documents.

Authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial staff are expected to maintain the confidentiality of the review process and refrain from disclosing information related to submitted manuscripts.

Communication between authors and reviewers is conducted exclusively through the journal's editorial management system. Direct communication between authors and reviewers is not permitted.

Ethical Standards

The peer review process is conducted in accordance with internationally recognized standards of publication ethics and the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Editors and reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts fairly, objectively, and solely on the basis of academic merit without discrimination based on nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, institutional affiliation, or personal characteristics.

Review Timeline

MOJET strives to provide timely editorial decisions. While review times may vary depending on reviewer availability and the complexity of the manuscript, the average review process typically takes 8 to 16 weeks from submission to first decision.
